Overview

Human Biology/Anatomy & Physiology Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) Fresno City College – Two Vacancies

Note: This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The District may fill more than one position from this pool.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in Human Biology and Human Anatomy & Physiology on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, and/or in a variety of instructional settings as assigned (including evenings and/or weekends, online or off-campus; may include off-campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment).
  • Teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer-level courses in human biology and human anatomy & physiology as assigned.
  • Participate in student recruiting, mentoring, and advising; communicate effectively and professionally with students and staff.
  • Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
  • Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students in relation to equity-minded practice.

  • Master’s in any biological science; or
  • Bachelor’s in any biological science and master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities;
  • Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of exclusionary patterns in higher education;
  • Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to engage racially minoritized students;
  • Experience teaching human biology and human anatomy & physiology;
  • Knowledge of current theories, methodologies, and assessment methods for teaching biology;
  • Ability to work with computers and instructional technology;
  • Strong communication with students and staff; and
  • Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Conditions of Employment and Salary

178 duty days per year. Starting salary: $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. Doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.

Selection Procedure

Applications will be screened for completeness and minimum qualifications. A selection advisory committee will review qualified applicants and determine interview invitations. Interviews may include a teaching demonstration and writing prompt. A small number of applicants will be forwarded for final interviews; final approval rests with the College President and Board of Trustees.
