Responsibilities- Provide the total range of community college counseling services, including career and educational planning, orientation, assessment interpretation, transfer, student outreach and personal counseling;
- Assist students in the development of a student education plan (SEP);
- Plan and conduct multi‑media classroom presentations and large presentations;
- Implement retention strategies;
- Integrate technology into counseling functions;
- Work collaboratively with faculty members, counselors, staff, and administration;
- Assist in the building of collaborative relationships with college faculty and high schools;
- Provide information on the college and promoting academic pathways on behalf of the college;
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of services, projects, and pathway maps for K‑12 partner districts;
- Provide leadership in program plans directed towards college degrees earned and transfer‑readiness;
- Maintain strong communication and procedural channels throughout the campus and K‑12 partner districts congruent with the goals and objectives of the Early College Office;
- Provide counseling assistance and referrals for college resources and student support services including Admissions & Records, EOPS, CalWORKs, Career/Transfer & Employment Center, DSP&S, Financial Aid, Starfish‑Early Alert, Academic Success Centers, STEM, TRiO, and off‑campus community‑based resources;
- Provide recommendation for early college courses, assist with the coordination and scheduling of courses along with related services in alignment with Dual Enrollment Agreements and in consultation with college faculty, deans, local high school administrators;
- Prepare and send communications to dual enrollment instructors and other stakeholders outlining dual enrollment procedures, calendar of dates and deadlines, and procedures for checking class rosters and for entering grades;
- Provide support for enrollment and onboarding activities for identified groups of students and communicate regularly with high schools, students, parents, counselors, and faculty for early college;
- Review local high school pathways to ensure alignment with Fresno City College’s Guided Pathways;
- Work collaboratively with instructional faculty, staff, and administrators in the development of student success initiatives, provision of counseling in support of guided pathways and other student support services that will ensure student access to college, retention and completion rates;
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;
- Work assignments and provide services in a variety of settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
