Job DetailsTitle: Speech and Language Pathologist
Classification: Exempt
Terms of Employment: 190 Day Contract. Salary based on education and experience.
Salary: Approved Certified Compensation Plan (Education and Experience).
Responsibilities- Assesses students’ communication skills (e.g., articulation, language, fluency, voice) to determine their communication needs and develop recommendations.
- Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and make recommendations.
- Facilitates meetings (e.g., IEP conferences, parent meetings, in‑services) to develop plans and provide information regarding students’ functional goals.
- Instructs students to implement goals for remediation of speech and language deficits.
- Prepares documentation (e.g., evaluations, observations, progress reports, contacts with parents, teachers, and outside professionals) to provide written support, develop recommendations, and convey information.
- Presents information on various topics related to the area of professional expertise for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment.
- Researches resources and methods (intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources) to determine appropriate approach for students’ speech and language services.
- Screens students to determine the need for further individualized assessment.
- Assists other personnel as required to support them in completing work activities.
- Participates in meetings (e.g., parent conferences, in‑service training, site meetings) to receive and/or provide information and meet credential requirements.
- Skills to apply assessment instruments, interpret test data, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of assessment instruments and their application, relevant education codes, state and district policies.
- Ability to complete a case study and develop an individual education plan, work independently, be flexible, work under time constraints, and collaborate with staff, parents, students, and community.
- Physical abilities: lifting/carrying, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing, visual acuity. Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
- Licensure for Speech Therapy (Arizona Department of Education Certificate).
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Prior job experience preferred.
- Physical requirements:
critical sensory requirements include general vision (corrected to 20/20), hearing (corrected), speaking and giving directions clearly. Ability to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (up to 50 pounds).
