ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour dependent upon qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.
This safety‑sensitive position is subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing. All positions require a post‑offer, pre‑employment background screening. A written test may be required.
Essential Functions Mechanic IUnder direct supervision, performs work of average difficulty in repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding automotive and heavy equipment; performs related work as assigned.
Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of vehicles and heavy equipment in the field or in the shop; performs various preventative maintenance functions; orders parts and supplies required for assigned tasks; maintains an orderly work area.
Mechanic IIUnder direct supervision, performs skilled work of routine difficulty in repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding automotive and heavy equipment; performs related work as assigned.
Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of light fleet and heavy fleet vehicles and/or heavy equipment in the field or in the shop; performs diagnosis, various preventative maintenance and repair functions; orders parts and supplies required for assigned tasks; maintains an orderly work area.
Mechanic IIIUnder general supervision, performs skilled work of moderate difficulty in repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding automotive and heavy equipment; performs related work as assigned.
Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of light fleet and heavy fleet vehicles and/or heavy equipment in the field or in the shop; performs diagnosis, various preventative maintenance and repair functions; orders parts and supplies required for assigned tasks; maintains an orderly work area.
Qualifications Mechanic IHigh School diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of recent work experience in the maintenance and repair of passenger cars, vans, commercial vehicles (up to 1‑ton capacity) and heavy equipment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance. Successful completion of mandatory pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing are required.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Mechanic IIHigh School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of recent work experience in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of passenger cars, vans, or commercial vehicles and/or heavy equipment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. Successful completion of mandatory pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing are required.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Mechanic IIIHigh School diploma or equivalent; five (5) years of recent work experience in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of passenger cars, vans, or commercial vehicles and/or heavy equipment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. Successful completion of mandatory pre‑employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Preferred QualificationsPreference may be given to applicants who have a valid Class “A” Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), valid U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Medical Examiners Certificate, or ASE Technician Certifications.
