Building Maintenance Specialist
Job Location: Camp Navajo, Bellemont, AZ
Pay Rate: $15.34 - $21.50 per hour (DOE)
Grade: 17

The Building Maintenance Specialist is assigned to various tasks that require the application of highly skilled abilities such as maintaining/repairing buildings, under the Construction and Facilities Management Office, Northern region oversight, including outlying armories in Flagstaff, Prescott and Show Low.
Job Duties- Maintain and repair buildings, under the Facilities Maintenance North oversight, including outlying armories in Prescott and Show Low.
- Perform painting, roofing, structuring, flooring, drywall, ceiling grid/tiles, concrete, windows.
- Ensure compliance with procedures, policies, work methods and safety of assigned personnel (e.g. DOC inmates); manage assigned equipment; track and maintain work order data logs for material cost estimates and time applied towards facilities work orders for all buildings and departments; maintain knowledge of lifecycle longevity on job‑specific equipment.
- Maintain/repair doors and door frames, closers and sweeps.
- Participate in the planning of services to oversee or carry out the initial and thorough completion stages of remodeling and construction which includes planning, estimating, costing and ordering materials in a timely and efficient manner; detect and resolve work stoppages; and assure all work complies with national and local building codes and safety laws and regulations.
- Attend job‑specified trainings.
- Basic building maintenance; cosmetic, construction, and repair of all structures.
- Material cost estimates for jobs completed and or in progress along with basic computer functions and capabilities.
- Materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Extensive building maintenance: painting, roofing, flooring, concrete installation basics.
- Equipment maintenance – performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what type of maintenance is needed.
- Time management – managing one's own time.
- Quality‑control analysis – conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Troubleshooting – determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. Two (2) or more years’ specialized experience in building maintenance and construction.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- Possession of a current, valid Arizona state‑issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment; maintain acceptable driving records and complete required driver training if applicable.
- In‑state travel required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation and achieve a favorable Tier 1 investigation for the purpose of obtaining/maintaining a CAC within one year of hire.
