Job SummaryReporting to the Retail Manager, the Assistant Retail Manager will oversee the daily operations of the retail unit—managing staff, ensuring merchandising standards, maintaining budgets, and delivering exceptional guest service.

- Provides exceptional guest service as the primary goal.
- Communicates with sales associates and maintains a positive image.
- Schedules, supervises, and coordinates all store staff.
- Manages loss control and merchandise shrinkage.
- Supports labor budget year‑long.
- Maintains displays, stock, and proper pricing; works with Visual Display personnel.
- Communicates with Corporate Buying and Regional Retail Directors.
- Completes Retail Supervisor duties such as food supply orders and vendor fill orders.
- Oversees cashier deposits and assists cashiers with POS system and accounting policies.
- Ensures proper opening and closing procedures and side duties.
- Maintains high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Provides training on accounting, safety, sustainability, and refresher training.
- Performs administrative duties including written updates on store personnel performance.
- Welcomes new staff and trains store objectives, procedures, and policies.
- Assists in preparing and completing annual retail store inventories.
- Assists Human Resources with housing inspections as needed.
- Assists employees with Trading Post housing maintenance requests.
- Adheres to all prescribed company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One‑year retail supervisory experience in a high‑volume retail store.
- Valid or clear Arizona Driver’s License (must obtain within 90 days of hire).
- Advanced computer skills—MS Office (Word and Excel), Smartsheet, timekeeping, procurement, retail specific suite software.
- Excellent oral, written, and problem‑solving communication skills.
- Fully trained and able to work at all Xanterra Tusayan Retail Outlets.
- Experience in product display, product ordering, inventory control, and loss control procedures.
- Computerized POS system experience including training and troubleshooting.
- Basic accounting skills with P&L analysis experience and extensive cash handling and deposit experience.
- Constantly stand and walk.
- Frequently lift or carry up to 10 lbs. and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Occasionally sit, reach above shoulder, squat/kneel, bend, crawl, climb, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
