Overview
Under general supervision, the Groundskeeper performs a variety of strenuous unskilled or semi-skilled work to maintain Community buildings and grounds. Must have the ability to work in extreme weather conditions and on-call shifts.

Work experience equivalent to six months full time general grounds maintenance or closely related work. Must possess, maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license throughout employment and be able to meet the Community’s insurance carrier requirements. Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check.
Additional RequirementsMust be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs., work in extreme weather conditions and work on-call shifts.
Responsibilities- Mows grass, trims plants/shrubs, and prunes bushes and trees, including operating equipment such as riding lawn mowers, tractor gang mowers, weed-eaters, chain saws, and trucks.
- Responsible for maintenance of gravesites and the landscape of cemetery grounds.
- Assists with the preparation of burial sites.
- Performs minor maintenance and repairs to equipment.
- Performs a variety of strenuous manual labor associated with landscape installation/maintenance and picking up/hauling trash, debris, and other waste.
- Assists at special events by setting up equipment, tables and chairs, helping clean up, etc.
- Performs mosquito fogging.
- Responsible for maintaining roads, such as potholes, road sealant, and asphalt applications.
- Responsible for maintaining airport taxi and runways.
- Operates a variety of medium construction equipment, including backhoe, front end loader, and dump truck as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the addresses/locations of residences, businesses, and government facilities in the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
- Knowledge of the practices and techniques of landscape/grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of landscape/grounds maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of general grounds keeping and landscaping principles and practices.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
- Skill in operating a variety of landscape/grounds maintenance equipment.
- Skill in operating and maintaining assigned power equipment.
- Skill in understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to drive and operate equipment
- Ability to work on-call shifts.
