Overview
Position Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Fredonia, Arizona
Reports To: Board of Directors, Kaibab Paiute Corporation (KPC)
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
About Kaibab Paiute Corporation (KPC): KPC is a federally chartered Section 17 corporation wholly owned by the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians. The corporation is responsible for leading and managing diverse economic enterprises and advancing sustainable development that benefits the tribal community. KPC is committed to building a strong economic foundation through responsible management, strategic investments, and intergovernmental partnerships.
Position Summary:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of KPC, responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the corporation and its subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead business growth initiatives, manage enterprise operations, and ensure compliance with applicable tribal, federal, and state laws. The CEO will build partnerships, drive new business development, and foster sustainable job creation, economic diversification, and long-term profitability.
This position requires a visionary, results-driven leader with a proven track record in tribal economic development, business formation, federal contracting, and cross-sector collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Corporate Leadership & Governance:
- Serve as the principal advisor to the Board of Directors on corporate matters, strategy, and operations
- Execute the corporation’s vision, mission, and goals as approved by the Board
- Ensure compliance with KPC bylaws, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
- Business Development & Growth:
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, acquisitions, joint ventures, and federal contracting prospects, including SBA 8(a) and mentor-protégé pathways
- Lead strategic planning processes and establish clear KPIs for performance and growth
- Develop and implement diversified revenue strategies across various sectors (e.g., retail, energy, health, real estate, technology)
- Operations & Fiscal Oversight:
- Oversee budgeting, accounting, and financial management for all KPC operations
- Implement internal controls, reporting systems, and enterprise-wide risk management
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, lease agreements, and operational service providers
- Tribal & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain strong communication with Tribal Council, tribal departments, and community stakeholders
- Represent KPC at local, regional, and national economic development forums
- Promote workforce development and capacity building for tribal members
- Team Development & Oversight:
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate senior leadership and operational teams
- Foster a high-performance culture with accountability, transparency, and innovation
- Develop policies, SOPs, and succession plans to ensure enterprise continuity
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in tribal enterprise development, corporate operations, or economic development
- Demonstrated success in launching and scaling businesses, managing complex projects, and navigating tribal-federal business structures
- Deep understanding of tribal sovereignty, Section 17 corporations, and intergovernmental affairs
- Experience in managing budgets, contracts, and staff in diverse organizational settings
- Knowledge of SBA programs, government contracting, and tribal regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication, strategic planning, and organizational leadership skills
- Leadership experience with demonstrated discipline, adaptability, and mission focus
- Experience working directly with tribal communities or on behalf of tribal governments
- Familiarity with Arizona economic climate, Indian Country business regulations, and rural development strategies
- Track record of engaging youth, community outreach, and creating pathways for tribal entrepreneurship
