Job Summary

The General Maintenance Engineer III is an entry‑level position, responsible for performing basic maintenance and repair activities associated with the operation of all Xanterra/Grand Canyon Railway facilities.

  • Pay: $18.60 an hour
  • Schedule:

    Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Understands and supports Xanterra Mission Statement, Core Values, Community Commitment, and Culture Pillars.
  • Assists in the completion of general and preventative maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion, high quality, thoroughness and cost effectiveness.
  • Performs basic record‑keeping duties and equipment data collection and recording functions.
  • Performs basic equipment repair: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC maintenance, mechanical, painting, etc.
  • Performs basic preventive maintenance duties such as filter changing, motor/pump maintenance, evaporative cooler maintenance, and ice machine maintenance.
  • Delivers or assists in delivery of supplies and materials to various locations and departments within the company as needed.
  • May transport guests and luggage as needed.
  • Adheres to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Wears required personal protective equipment in performing assigned tasks.
  • Represents the company in a positive manner and minimizes the impact of maintenance activity on the guests.
  • Performs outside custodial duties: snow and ice removal from sidewalks or walkways, mowing lawns, weeding flower beds, and clearing grasses.
  • Works various shifts as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one year experience in general building maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of rooms and hotel layout on GCR property and general knowledge of Xanterra Grand Canyon Railway guest services.
  • A valid Arizona Driver’s License and ability to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age to operate company vehicles and equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, balancing, climbing, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling, wrist motion, bending/stooping, ascending and descending ladder.
  • Trunk strength: ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously.
  • Static strength: ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
  • Constant carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequently carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
  • Stand and walk for long periods on cement floors and occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
