Position: COMMUNITY HEALTH ANALYST
Location: Sacaton

Distinguishing Features of the Class

Under minimum supervision, The Community Health Analyst is responsible for conducting a comprehensive review, analysis of existing health programs in the Community, and recommend plans for implementing new or refined systems to strengthen the Community’s Health Management Infrastructure. Responsible for analyzing, compiling and validating data for existing Health programs so that leadership can make informed decisions.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain databases for use in reporting and resource development.
  • Design and maintain in concert with health leadership and available resources a health management information system applicable to the needs and direction of the Community’s health system and programs.
  • Work with Gila River Health Care to provide analytical support and reporting of disease surveillance, service utilization, and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and administer complex surveys to collect qualitative and quantitative data to determine the health needs of the Gila River Indian Community. From this data determine what gaps exist and the closest resource for the gap in service to be able to determine the health services needed for the population.
  • Prepare and present analytical health information reports from data collected which will assist leadership in making informed decisions.
  • Works with and speaks to Community and Governing Boards to coordinate recommendations for improved health care systems.
  • Develop and provide a recommended model or system implementation plan to include all resources; labor, financial and technology and determine if the system needs to be changed for effectiveness and efficiencies by presenting system implementation and test model for additional gaps in service.
  • Assist program managers in developing objective evaluation methods and applications.
  • Develop policy and procedures related to the maintenance, utility, and confidentiality of the health information and reporting system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability
  • Knowledge of the economic, educational, health and social problems of Native Americans.
  • Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality set forth by GRIC including keeping the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and capable to work in teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of health status and department management information.
  • Ability to perform mathematical and statistical analysis related to quantifying and using data.
  • Ability to plan, supervise and coordinate work of others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manipulate Microsoft applications such as:
    Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and respond to emergencies or stressful situations calmly, quickly and decisively.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the general public.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.
Required

Education and Experience

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in Health Services Administration, Public Health, Hospital Administration, or a closely related field and two (2) years’ experience in methods of databases, analytical tools and applications. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Additional Requirements

Required to pass a background check.

Required to obtain a Tribal Operator’s permit.
