Distinguishing Features

Provide daily staffing of the Crisis Response Unit, work directly with the Crisis Response Team Program Manager to develop and improve services. Respond to calls for assistance as needed. Incumbent will respond to immediately assist victims of traumatic events such as fires, death or serious injury. Provide assistance to Police Officers, Firefighters and Medical personnel by assisting family members on scene allowing First Responders to focus on the incident.

Maintain motor vehicle equipment and response equipment as necessary and assist Crisis Response Team Manager with developing, maintaining, and enhancing current program policies and procedures. Help coordinate and train volunteers, perform community outreach in reference to Crisis Interventions, program offerings and support organizations in need.

Essential Functions
  • Provide mobile crisis intervention techniques during traumatic events. Respond to crisis calls from Police/Fire/EMS and assess the family’s needs and facilitate appropriate resources. Coordinates between emergency personnel, hospital staff and family members as needed.
  • Provide follow-up to Community Members and visitors as needed and encouraging the use of Community resources. This may involve one interaction or several dependent on the original nature of the event, or action that placed them into the CR Service.
  • Operate a 15-passenger Crisis Response Van, associated radio and mobile communications equipment and computer. Maintain vehicle and equipment by performing daily vehicle checks/inspections to include vehicle fluids, cleaning van inside and out and ensuring it is properly cleaned, stocked and equipped with resources (water, ice, snacks, emergency clothing, boxes, printed materials, etc.).
  • Responsible for completing incident reports and maintaining appropriate records and confidentiality for the Records Management System (RMS).
  • Responsible for Monitoring/Guiding Volunteers and Student Interns with job performance and written materials. Co-facilitate trainings for volunteers as needed.
  • Attend public and community events and assist with providing information and brochures regarding the Communities’ CRT Program (Public Education). On-going training and certification process for self and volunteer on-going education.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community members, Community Officials and the general public
  • Must be able to perform moderate lifting as a requirement for the position (Up to 25 lbs.)
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
  • Must be able to operate within Tribal and Departmental standard operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; analyzing challenges and proposing improvements to program procedures and processes
  • Ability to perform and maintain all physical conditioning requirements of the position; agree to maintain a drug-free workplace
Required

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Behavioral Health or Human Services related field and three (3) years’ experience in a behavioral health related role or within the Crisis Response Field;
