QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree required
- Valid Arizona Teacher certificate with Required Endorsements-
- Meet federal highly qualified teacher requirements
- Experience as a teacher
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
SUMMARY: Provides support to the instructional process as a teacher with responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. This includes developing lesson plans and delivering group and/or individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with other teachers, professionals, and administrators, and addressing instructional and/or classroom issues. The classroom teacher also responds to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer the curriculum guides of the District based on state adopted standards
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials based on district curriculum guides, standards, and expectations; include emergency plans for absence and/or illness
- Establish and communicate well-defined objectives for each lesson, including relevant projects and activities
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences reflecting research-based instructional strategies, using a variety of instructional methods (inquiries, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.) to address the needs of students
- Communicate and plan with staff for meaningful instruction of shared students in programs such as special education, CTE, ELL, etc.
- Attend staff meetings and district in-service programs
- Serve on school and district committees as requested
- Discharge instructional and non-instructional school-related activities in a thorough and timely manner
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide work assignments to instructional assistants and/or student teachers; may supervise classified staff
- Participate in professional decision making and contribute to a positive educational environment
- Participate in professional development to maintain Arizona certification
- Evaluate and maintain accurate reports of student progress, including attendance, grades, and special program requirements
- Identify and refer unusual student behavior to the appropriate specialists
- Report injuries or illnesses to the site nurse and principal
- Enforce and follow the school and district discipline plan
- Supervise students on school grounds and at events
- Know and observe Board policies and regulations
- Account for and maintain inventory of classroom, school, and district property as required
- Follow school regulations regarding emergency procedures
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student needs and progress
- Maintain required records as directed by site and district administration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of instructional techniques and methods for working with children
- Knowledge of data usage including research, collection, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and reporting
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to perform detailed mathematical computations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to apply common sense to solve practical problems
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and community
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies
- Ability to handle confrontation without an emotional response
Computer Proficiency
:
Demonstrated general proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
SALARY PLACEMENT is dependent upon education/experience;
plus a competitive benefits package which includes:
