Under general supervision, performs computer/technical support and troubleshooting, advice, consultation, cataloging and evaluation; performs related work as assigned. Essential function, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Responsibilities- Provides excellent customer service to all member library staff members and patrons
- Trains library staff at member libraries in related software and hardware as well as library-related skills including but not limited to book repair and book processing
- Assists in the maintenance & updates of the NCLD webpage
- Assist the Library District Director in administration of the Library District's integrated library system (ILS), and works with Libraries & patrons with ILS troubleshooting and website services
- Processes & catalogs library materials for use, adding records to the ILS and prepares the items for use
- With the Library District Director, gathers statistics on the use of the ILS, web pages, and online resources
- Manages & processes interlibrary loan requests from and for NCLD libraries using OCLC World Share
- Assists in requesting quotes from vendors, filling out forms, & tracking reimbursements from the Federal government, as needed
- Provides software and hardware training for NCLD libraries
- Manages & maintains NCLD rotating collections, repairing items when practicable
- General clerical and office duties
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and a self-starter
- Ability to present to all age groups birth to seniors
- Knowledge of multiple teaching methods
- Knowledge of applications, capabilities and operation principles of personal computer software and hardware.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Power Point
- Knowledge of web page development and online databases.
- Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Associate degree in Education or Library Science; OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
