About the Project/Clinic:
AMI is contracted with Akicita Cyber to support the Indian Health Service staff qualified healthcare professionals in the Peach Springs, AZ area.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Dental Assistant to support dental services at the Indian Health Service (IHS) facility in Peach Springs, Arizona. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality dental care for a diverse patient population. The Dental Assistant will work directly with dentists and clinical staff to prepare patients, assist with procedures, maintain sterile environments, and support patient education.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide chair-side assistance for all routine dental procedures
- Prepare patients for dental treatment and ensure comfort and safety
- Position and expose dental radiographs
- Apply topical fluoride and provide toothbrush prophylaxis to pediatric patients as directed by the dentist
- Measure and record patient vital signs
- Perform routine dental laboratory procedures, including fabrication of dental models and custom trays
- Update patient medical histories and treatment records in Dentrix
- Enter and update Dentrix notes as directed by the dentist
- Prepare and explain dental consent forms to patients
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
- Follow all infection control and OSHA protocols in accordance with Dental Department policies
- Properly clean and disinfect dental operatories in compliance with JSU Dental and IHS standards
- Sterilize dental instruments and maintain sterile work environments
- Prepare dental operatories with appropriate instruments and materials prior to procedures
- Provide oral hygiene instruction, post-operative care guidance, and general dental education to patients
- Maintain sundry supplies and ensure operatories are fully stocked
- Perform minimal dental receptionist and front-office duties as needed to support clinic operations
- The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
- Dental Assistant certification or equivalent training required
- Experience working in a dental clinic or similar healthcare setting
- Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental EHR systems preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
