Job Title: Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) – Construction Safety

Location: Sierra Vista, AZ (Ft Huachuca)

Employment Type: Contract (4-6 Months)

Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

Environmental and Safety Solutions, Inc. (ESS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support a federal construction project near Sierra Vista, AZ
. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing health and safety practices in accordance with federal regulations and client standards.

We are looking for a self-directed, detail-oriented safety professional with excellent communication and computer skills who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven construction environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary EHS representative for the project, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and contract requirements.
  • Support the project management team with on-site safety inspections, reporting, and training coordination.
  • Conduct and document daily safety inspections of the job site.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety logs
    , incident reports, and OSHA recordkeeping (including injury/illness logs).
  • Interface with regulatory agencies such as OSHA as needed.
  • Provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks to on-site personnel.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with facility management and subcontractors to ensure alignment with EHS standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of continuous experience in construction safety management
    .
  • OSHA EM 385-1-1 is mandatory.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital safety platforms.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage site safety with minimal supervision.
  • U.S. Citizenship required (federal project compliance)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal construction projects
    , especially USACE or DoD.
  • Familiarity with incident investigation and root cause analysis methods.
  • Prior experience coordinating with subcontractors and site leadership on large-scale builds.
