JOB SUMMARY
:
Overland Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Haul Driver to join our operations team in Ardmore, OK. This position is responsible for transporting a variety of heavy construction equipment—including paving and civil construction machinery—between project sites across the region. The ideal candidate will have experience operating lowboy trailers, secure oversized loads, and navigating DOT regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES /
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform pre-trip inspections which include checking oil, water, fuel, tires, lights on the tractor and trailer, chains, blinders, and other tools each morning prior to starting the day’s activities.
- Receive job assignment from supervisor or dispatcher, drive to specified area or pick up equipment or material to be moved.
- The ability to determine weights, heights and widths prior to transporting equipment or material
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment including pavers, rollers, excavators, dozers, and other civil construction machinery.
- Operate lowboy and other specialized trailers designed for heavy haul transport.
- Communicate daily with the Dispatch Manager to coordinate and schedule equipment moves.
- Inspect equipment and trailers before and after transport to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation in accordance with DOT and company standards.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on haul vehicles and trailers as needed.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience hauling heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and oversized load permitting.
- Ability to operate and maneuver large trailers in tight construction environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
