The Member Loan Consultant (MLC) is a sales position primarily responsible for originating consumer loans.
DescriptionThe MLC will use their knowledge of the consumer marketplace, products, and finance to fully understand members’ personal plans and market MTC Federal services that best meet those needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Comply with all laws, statutes, rules and regulations governing the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Demonstrate enthusiastic support of the corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives.
- Perform job duties within credit union bylaws, regulations, policies, established service standards and work procedures.
- Meet or exceed all performance metrics assigned.
- Leverage knowledge of the credit union’s policies, products and services.
- Complete ongoing education and compliance training as assigned.
- Identify opportunities for new and improved products, services and processes to enhance loan production, quality and competitiveness.
- Support off‑site/outbound promotions and sales campaigns.
- Communicate members’ needs to internal team members.
- Collaborate with internal team members to provide the highest levels of member service.
- Gather and document member financial information and application details to meet compliance and lending requirements.
- Interpret and evaluate financial information, ask follow‑up and probing questions to determine appropriate products and services.
- Recommend loan terms, conditions, and collateral consistent with the request and loan risks, setting clear expectations with the member and documenting pertinent information.
- Provide debt counseling and financial education to members and potential members.
- Expertly apply MTC Federal lending philosophy and model.
- Consumer lending goals that include loan production and sales of ancillary products and services, as assigned.
One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education- A two‑year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job‑specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Work involves personal contact with others inside and outside the organization for conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions require confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy and tact.

- Some travel required.
