About the RoleAs part of Global Sourcing, the Supplier Engineer serves as a technical lead for sustaining and new product development activities within Catalog Electronics, Photonics, and Electromechanical category teams. This role works independently while partnering with cross‑functional groups to resolve complex and critical supplier‑related issues, evaluate supplier performance, mitigate risks for supplied materials, and drive strategies to support supply chain objectives. The daily work involves serving as a technical leader for projects and interacting cross‑functionally to drive execution of Material Control deliverables according to business needs.
The position follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not sponsor a visa for this position at this time.
Responsibilities- Work with suppliers globally to understand manufacturing processes and requirements to ensure repeatable, reproducible quality and reliability.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Quality, R&D, Design Assurance, and Project Management to execute Material Control deliverables according to program needs, such as purchased material qualification, supplier‑driven change assessments, supplier capacity or capability improvement projects, or regulated material compliance assessments.
- Serve as the technical lead in Global Sourcing category teams to establish and execute category objectives.
- Investigate and evaluate new and existing technologies for use in future products or to improve quality/reliability of current products.
- Conduct risk assessments on sourced materials and build installed capacity and capability at suppliers; plan and execute service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of components supplied.
- Coordinate all phases of supplier engineering work content for projects; communicate emerging issues and recovery action plans with site leadership and stakeholders to gain resources and support.
- Identify and execute material cost‑reduction projects to meet plant, division, and category goals; influence cross‑functional team members to support and drive value‑improvement projects.
- Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline with at least 3 years of engineering experience.
- Experience working with suppliers and/or contract manufacturers.
- Ability to travel up to 15% globally.
- Organized and detail‑oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of related manufacturing processes and performance characteristics for pumps, motors, power supplies, chillers, precision optics, and/or electronic components.
- Working knowledge of statistical methods, Six Sigma methodologies, and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams to drive project deliverables.
- Knowledge of Boston Scientific products and processes.
- Experience working in medical device or a similar GMP environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships.
- Effective problem‑solving, data analytics, and critical thinking skills; results‑driven.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Self‑driven and self‑motivated to learn and apply knowledge to produce results.
Minimum Salary: $78,300;
Maximum Salary: $148,800 (based on location and other factors).
