Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer contract position – Arden Hills, MN – 6 months, option to extend. One year with strong chance for long‑term extension. Urology R&D acquisition and integration project.
Base Pay RangeBase pay: $55.00/hr – $60.00/hr actual pay based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities- Validate existing test methods to client compliance using Gauge R&R or other methods.
- Assess acquired company design test methods to determine if validation testing is required and run tests or update documentation.
- Provide testing solutions and technical support under guidance from subject matter experts.
- Apply mechanical and systems design, test method design, validation, verification testing, and statistical analysis.
- Contribute to engineering work: technology development or remediation, product design refinement, test of materials, specifications, process study, and report preparation.
- Communicate progress, risks, trade‑offs to project leadership and recommend revisions as needed.
- Windchill and test method validation experience required.
- BS or above in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of engineering or related experience with bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with a Master’s.
- Strong mechanical and/or systems engineering and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations from technical inputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, decision‑making, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
- Personal drive, individual accountability, and strong bias for action.
- Familiarity with IEC 14708 and 45502 Active Implantable standards.
- Familiarity with IEC 60601 Medical Electrical Equipment standards, including laser‑specific sections.
- Experience with statistical techniques (Gauge R&R, Process Capabilities Studies) and Minitab.
- Experience in single‑use device or active implantable test methods and test method validation.
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders.
