Forests and rangelands each cover one-third of the land area in the United States. Courses in the Forestry, Fire, and Rangeland Management department teach our students to connect with and manage these lands, working toward a more sustainable future. We provide three Bachelor of Science degrees:
Forestry, Applied Fire Science and Management, and Rangeland Resource Science. Our graduate program is the Master of Science in Natural Resources with an option in Forestry, Watershed & Wildland Sciences.
At Cal Poly Humboldt, we provide hands‑on learning in some of the world’s most spectacular and important forests and rangelands, personal attention from faculty, and a clear path to a career outdoors. Our faculty work closely with our students to prepare them for careers with government, Tribal, and private employers.

QualificationsForestry - Minimum Qualifications
For Forestry courses, the minimum qualifications required are a B.S. degree in Forestry or a related field, and prior or current experience relative to class content. Preference will be given to candidates with an M.S. in Forestry and prior teaching experience.
Geospatial Analysis - Minimum Qualifications
For Geospatial Analysis (GSP) courses, the minimum qualifications are a B.S. degree in Geospatial Science with an emphasis in Remote Sensing or a related field, as well as prior or current experience relative to class content. Preference will be given to candidates with an M.S. and prior teaching experience.
Rangeland Resources - Minimum Qualifications
For Rangeland Resources (RRS) courses, the minimum qualifications are a B.S. degree in Rangeland Resources or a related field, and prior or current experience related to class content. Preference will be given to candidates with an M.S. and prior teaching experience.
Soil - Minimum Qualifications
For Soil courses, the minimum qualifications are a B.S. degree in Soils or Agronomy or a related field, and prior or current experience related to class content. Preference will be given to candidates with an M.S. and prior teaching experience.
Watershed - Minimum Qualifications
For Watershed courses, the minimum qualifications are a B.S. in Hydrology or a related field, and prior or current experience related to class content. Preference will be given to candidates with an M.S. and prior teaching experience.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
