Fleet Maintenance Manager
The Shop Supervisor oversees the day-to-day functions in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of buses and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities- Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment, and communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch, maintenance manager and/or other operations personnel.
- Repairs and maintains diesel engines and bus equipment.
- Supervises maintenance operations, plans and distributes work, delegates responsibilities, and monitors performance.
- Ensures day‑to‑day compliance with State, Federal and company requirements.
- Works closely with location manager to provide status of maintenance and budget requirements, and reviews repair orders.
- May order fuel for all vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work.
- Supervises bus fueling and may arrange services for building and ground keeping.
- Identifies and recommends actions to improve operating efficiency.
- Completes special projects as assigned and performs hands‑on work activities.
- Plans and schedules work within company guidelines.
- Distributes work to technicians and oversees successful accomplishment of tasks.
- Trains and motivates maintenance staff.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
- Supervisory experience with hourly employees; 2–3 years transit supervisory experience preferred.
- Industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment is preferred.
- Computer literate—basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs.
- Employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Must be able to work in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
- Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
- Physically fit to board transit vehicles and inspect both vehicles and facilities as needed.
