** The Registered Nurse (RN), as shift leader, plays a pivotal role in managing the nursing team to ensure that each patient is treated with dignity and respect at all times. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for assisting with improved quality nursing care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice, Nursing act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005), all Health Care legislation, Basic Conditions of Employment, Policies and Procedures and Core Standards.
The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for assisting with monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practised within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. The incumbent also fulfils the role by the use of scientifically-based nursing theories and processes, treating the patients as a physical, social and spiritual individual, and by use of educational and technical means applicable to health care practice.

- Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Akeso Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient-centered care within the mental health and psychiatric unit, adhering to Netcare's high standards of quality and safety.
Job Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans for individuals with mental health conditions.
Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners, ensuring accurate documentation and monitoring for adverse reactions.
Conduct thorough mental health assessments, observing and reporting changes in patients' conditions to the multi-disciplinary team.
Develop and implement individualized care plans, collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and individual interventions to support patients' recovery and well-being.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients and staff, adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and risk management.
Participate in ward meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and dignity are upheld at all times.
Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and calm under pressure.
Job Qualifications Current and valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
A minimum of 2-3 years of post-basic experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting is essential.
A post-basic qualification in Psychiatric Nursing Science will be a distinct advantage.
Demonstrated knowledge of mental health legislation and best practices in psychiatric nursing.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in computer skills for electronic patient record management.
Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
