Job Summary
Assistant Project Manager, Construction (Mechanical) – Baltimore, MD. Reports to Project Manager. Full‑time exempt.
Work shift:
7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday. Supports project team to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with defined resources, while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Support the Project Manager in driving project flow from inception to completion.
- Assist in creating, executing, and fostering a safe work environment, supporting field employees and safety initiatives.
- Review contract and bid documents; understand project scope and requirements.
- Maintain project documentation: certificates of insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, correspondence, etc., and ensure central storage in project control software.
- Verify correct drawings are distributed to field.
- Assist with schedule of values or billing formats as required by contract documents.
- Support project scheduling, integrating completion, delivery dates, and manpower into the overall schedule.
- Request purchase orders for major equipment and subs, anticipating delivery dates and appropriate notice.
- Obtain and assemble operation and maintenance manuals for the project.
- Attend necessary meetings with internal and external entities to review scheduling, delivery, job progress, manpower, and solutions to setbacks.
- Assist with project accounting and monthly billings, collecting outstanding balances, and follow‑up.
- Collaborate with the supervisor regarding safety (toolbox talks, weekly walk‑throughs).
- Gather information for work/scope changes; work with team to price changes and ensure approval before work commences.
- Assist field personnel in commissioning and closeout activities.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to the Project Manager with recommended resolution.
- Meet project site onboarding requirements as set by contractual agreements.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
- Provide reliable transportation and be able to travel to assigned project sites.
Education & Experience
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in mechanical, plumbing, and/or industrial HVAC discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- Understanding of construction contract language and terms.
- Familiarity with local market a plus.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction programs.
- Experience with project management/document control software.
- Experience with construction/financial software packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership ability with a results‑oriented approach.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Technical proficiency in project management, quality assurance, and costing.

Physical DemandsRegularly requires sitting, seeing, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle tools or controls. Walks, reaches, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches, and sometimes lifts up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Commutes to field locations regularly.
Compensation and BenefitsPay Range
: $100,000 – $124,000 per year, based on skills and experience.

Bonus eligible.
