WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANAs a Maintenance Technician at Historic Fox River Mills, your days will be spent caring for a beautifully transformed historic property. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot building systems, complete repairs, and support the overall upkeep of the community. From HVAC inspections and plumbing repairs to general property maintenance, each day brings new opportunities to ensure our residents experience the highest level of comfort and satisfaction.
DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES
- Repair and replace components for HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and pool control systems
- Manage work orders, unit turnovers, and coordinate contractor estimates and approved work
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance, including grounds care, common area upkeep, trash and recycling, monthly/quarterly inspections, safety checks, and preventive maintenance tasks
- Assist with managing turnover budgets, R&M expenses, and capital expenditure items
- Report accidents, emergencies, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor
- Support additional properties within the area when needed
Participate in an on‑call rotation schedule - Demonstrate and uphold Oakbrook's core values in all interactions and tasks
- Perform all other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES- Previous experience in residential property maintenance or a related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, construction, painting
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with residents, team members, and vendors
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High school diploma or GED
- Vocational or trade school certifications preferred
- Must provide personal hand tools
- Valid driver's license
