Job Summary

This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of liturgical rites and liturgical positions nard Catholic Parish, Appleton. This position is also responsible for the development, scheduling, and selection of music for liturgies and parish functions. Evening and weekend hours are a necessity of this position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge
  • Bachelor degree in liturgy, music or related field (Master’s preferred); or equivalent experience required.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic, a member in good standing of a Catholic Parish, and be single, ordained, a professed religious or in a sacramental marriage and have a strong faith commitment, dedicated to the Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service.
  • In-depth knowledge of Catholic liturgies, especially the celebration of Mass and the required rites through the liturgical year.
  • Working knowledge of all desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite and various web applications.
  • Musical knowledge and keyboard proficiency is helpful.
Skills & Abilities
  • Personal initiative and motivation to work in a self-directed environment a must.
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and manage teams of volunteers with pastoral sensitivity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly through electronic, written, and verbal means.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to discern and maintain confidentiality when needed.
  • Capable of obtaining proficiency in electronic applications needed for scheduling and media projection in various locations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan ahead to meet upcoming liturgical requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities

“Embrace the mission and vision of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and St. Bernard Catholic Parish and work in accordance with Catholic Social Teachings and the moral and ethical values of the Catholic Church.”

  • Attend staff meetings, retreats, seminars and small group discussions where faith is discussed.
  • Attend diocesan functions that pertain to areas of liturgy and music.
  • Coordinate all aspects of liturgical rites:
    • Pastorally implement liturgical guidelines as prescribed in official Church documents and by the Diocese of Green Bay.
    • Assist in the planning of sacraments (baptism, first communion, etc.)
    • Select appropriate music for the celebration and the musical talent available.
    • Coordinate funeral and wedding liturgies with families within the guidelines provided by the diocese.
  • Oversee all aspects of liturgical ministries:
    • Identify, encourage, and assist in recruiting liturgical volunteers.
    • Develop and implement training of liturgical volunteers.
    • Maintain accurate online liturgical schedule for lay liturgical ministers and ensure that all necessary positions are filled.
    • Assist in writing prayers of the faithful for weekend liturgies.
  • Provide proper liturgical environment through cooperation of Art & Environment Committee.
  • Fulfill administrative duties:
    • Maintain liturgical resources for reference.
    • Order liturgical supplies.
    • Train and oversee volunteer sound and media technicians.
