Position Summary

The Repair Technical Support Specialist functions as an inside sales and technical support resource for the Repair Department. This position is responsible for researching existing components, evaluating returned items, estimating repair materials and associated costs, and creating production order routings for repair evaluations. The role serves as a key liaison between customers, manufacturing operations, and internal teams to ensure efficient and accurate repair processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue RGA (Return Goods Authorization) paperwork to customers for equipment requiring repair.
  • Create preliminary routings and production orders to evaluate incoming items and determine repair feasibility.
  • Assist manufacturing operations in identifying the most effective repair methods for components and parts.
  • Develop accurate cost and time estimates for repair activities.
  • Conduct drawing, parts, and pricing research as needed.
  • Create, process, and follow up on repair quotes and customer orders.
  • Document and review repair history to support future evaluations.
  • Track customer repair orders through completion.
  • Assist Assembly personnel with discrepancies related to repair work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Success Factors (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications with the ability to learn and utilize SAP and legacy systems for daily work requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated customer relationship abilities.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction; proactively identifies and completes necessary tasks. Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
Experience
  • Demonstrated strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and bills of materials.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing environments, including machining, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and the ability to learn and use SAP ERP and legacy AS400 BPCS systems for daily operations.
Qualifications
  • Technical school or college-level degree and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in the pulp and paper industry or a supporting industry preferred.
  • Experience working around or on paper machine equipment is a plus.
  • SAP experience is highly desired.
