The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations and personnel during the scheduled shift. This hands‑on leadership role ensures production goals are met while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and teamwork. The Supervisor acts as a point of contact for the scheduled shift operations, providing coaching, support, and coordination across departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Supervise and support production team on scheduled shift.
- Coordinate daily workload in area including assigning daily tasks, setting priorities, and adjusting resources to meet production schedules.
- Monitor work‑in‑progress to ensure quality standards and on‑time delivery are met.
- Collaborate with first shift and management to ensure clear handoffs and communication.
- Uphold and enforce company policies, safety rules, and quality procedures.
- Conduct shift meetings, promote a positive team environment, and lead by example.
- Provide real‑time problem solving for equipment, quality, or personnel issues.
- Assist with training, onboarding, and cross‑training employees as needed.
- Document shift activity and performance metrics; communicate with leadership on shift status.
- Promote 5S, continuous improvement, and safe work practices.
- Participate in employee hiring processes, including in‑person interviews.
- Complete and contribute to performance reviews, coaching employees on expectations, development, and performance.
- Work with Maintenance to coordinate preventative maintenance in the area.
- Handle communication and scheduling of overtime opportunities.
- Oversee injury response and reporting procedures during shift operations.

Qualifications- 2+ years of experience in a machining environment required.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Solid understanding of machining processes and tooling. Plastic experience preferred, not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a team‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules.
- Organized, proactive, and able to make quick, informed decisions.
- Comfortable using ERP and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
