Overview
The Community Blood Center is seeking a Manager of Mobile Collection Operations to lead and support our mobile blood drive teams in fast-paced, community-based environments. This highly visible, hands-on leadership role spends the majority of time in the field, working directly alongside staff to ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, staff competency, and an exceptional donor experience. Leading from the front, the manager provides real-time coaching, problem-solving, and oversight while keeping our mission, vision, and values—and our lifesaving impact—at the center of everything we do.
JOB SUMMARY: The Manager of Mobile Collection Operations is a highly visible, hands-on leader who spends approximately 60–80% of their time working in the field alongside mobile collection teams. This role is ultimately responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, staff competency, an excellent customer experience, and efficient operation of mobile blood drives. The Mobile Manager leads from the front, providing real-time coaching, problem-solving, and operational oversight while ensuring logistics, scheduling, and performance expectations are met in dynamic, fast-paced mobile environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
Field-Based Leadership & Oversight
- Work with Logistics Coordinator to effectively ensure mobile vehicles, equipment, and supplies are prepared and ready for scheduled operations.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure all aspects of mobile operations run smoothly, providing field-based insights to improve future logistics and scheduling decisions.
- Coordinate schedule adjustments and contingency planning in response to staff resources, weather, or operational disruptions.
- Maintain a consistent on-site presence at mobile blood drives, working directly with staff to observe operations, reinforce standards, and support a successful donor and sponsor experience.
- Model professionalism, compliance, and excellent customer service during routine operations and unexpected challenges.
- Develop Team Supervisors to be capable and confident leaders, providing coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient collections.
- Work with Team Supervisors and Staff Development Lead to ensure all mobile team members are properly trained, competent, and current in required competencies and certifications.
- Partner with Team Supervisors to evaluate team member performance through direct observation and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Identify development needs and opportunities for career ladder advancement, building bench strength within the mobile team.
- Foster a positive, engaged team culture by maintaining a strong leadership presence and addressing concerns in real time.
- Balance approachability with accountability, holding all team members to consistent standards regardless of role or tenure.
- Recognize strong performance in the field and address behavior or performance issues promptly and professionally.
Operational Performance and Quality
- Ensure mobile blood collection operations comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with Collections Support Team and Team Supervisors to identify compliance risks and/or deviation trends and address them promptly through coaching, retraining, process modification and collaboration with Quality and Regulatory Affairs partners.
- Support audits, inspections, and corrective action plans through hands-on oversight and timely follow-up.
- Oversee daily mobile operations to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, vehicles, equipment, and supplies.
