The Director of Operations is a senior executive role responsible for overseeing daily business functions, specifically within the areas of scheduling (including fabrication and installation), project management, reputation management, and financial performance. This role works with the President to develop long-term strategies and is responsible for executing these strategies within the departments. The core focus is to improve operational efficiency, resource management, and strategic planning, thereby increasing productivity and profitability across the company.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic oversight and hands-on leadership across scheduling (fabrication and installation), project management, reputation management, and financial performance.
- Collaborate with the President to develop long-term operational strategies and execute them within the departments.
- Lead and manage department managers; drive operational excellence through best practices, process improvements, and resource optimization; mentor teams across departments.
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor costs and profitability, provide accurate project forecasts, and track key operational metrics.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies; negotiate contracts and manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; promote a safety-focused culture and conduct site audits and safety training for field staff.
- Collaborate with the executive team on long-term operational strategies, market expansion, and resource planning; monitor industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - 10+ years of experience in construction operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles, financial oversight, and operational best practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale construction projects and strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills; ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency in construction management software, project scheduling tools, and financial reporting systems.
- OSHA certification or similar safety qualifications preferred.
