As part of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Office, the Telecommunicator is involved in all aspects of public safety in Outagamie County. Our mission is to work in partnership with our community and other public service agencies to protect and serve the citizens of Outagamie County. Our Communications Center is a fast-moving, dynamic team where success is defined by public and responder safety.

Position DetailsThis is a full-time position with a 49-day rotating schedule: 5 on 3 off, 5 on 3 off, 5 on 3 off, 5 on 4 off, 4 on 4 off, 4 on 4 off, in perpetuity. Weekends and holidays are required. Shifts are 10 hours long: 04:00-14:00, 08:00-18:00, 13:00-23:00, 18:00-04:00, 22:00-08:00. Shifts are assigned annually based on seniority. The county cannot guarantee a specific shift.

Key Responsibilities- Answer 911 emergency calls and dispatch appropriate units.
- Answer non-emergency calls and provide information.
- Access and analyze computerized data to assist staff.
- Maintain radio contact with emergency units.
- Operate the Time System and computers to retrieve driver, vehicle, and warrant information.
- Monitor alarm and weather systems and dispatch staff accordingly.
- Provide Emergency Medical Dispatch services.
- Maintain and update 911 database records.
- Report maintenance and operational needs.
- Maintain attendance and work overtime as required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Telecommunicator Certification preferred.
- Law, Fire, or EMS background desired.
- Knowledge of computer software applications.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment in emergencies.
- Reliable attendance and flexibility.
- Ability to work semi-independently and make sound decisions.
- Typing proficiency.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Outagamie County and Fox Cities geography.
