Remedy Specialized Developer
Greenwood Village Colorado 80111
Contract (onsite)
- APO team supports over 50 network applications including provisioning, email servers, DNS/DHCP, device activation, remote support for data centers, etc. Remedy is their ticketing system.
- As a NOC role, teams respond to alarm and do basic monitoring work.
- For example, an alarm goes off on a disk drive, techs will follow defined steps to troubleshoot and bring back up the disk drive.
- Some of the work entails Linux OS, generally running scripts provided by engineering team (separate). So ability to run/execute scripts is important, but do not need to know how to write or create scripts. Someone strong in scripting may get bored in the role. However, if tech has aptitude or ability to troubleshoot a script (script has an extra space, character) or something that would be very helpful, especially someone with awareness to recognize an error seen before and act on it.
- Another example of task, see an alarm which maps to a response process created by the engineering team. Process says 1st step will solve xx% of issues, so perform first step, then 2nd, then 3rd. If bigger issue, tech will coordinate with internal engineering teams and third party vendors. This requires good personality to take charge of issue resolution and strong communication skills.
Manager has interacted with people who have English as 2nd language and hard to understand so they are not as effective. - The current team in Herndon, VA is pretty strong drivers of issue resolution, so will see if Colorado team does the same once built out.
- Another example, they may be experiencing performance issues on a weblogic server, could be CPU/disk allocation, threading, etc where they are going at 95%. Engineering team knows normal is 50%, and 60% usage is getting to critical level. Engineering team may task this NOC team with monitoring system performance every 30 minutes to see fluctuations and reporting data.
- Responsible for assisting design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases.
- Responsible for Application Administration of OSS applications supporting all Divisions. Participation in full life‑cycle of systems engineering activities of high‑quality, scalable solutions.
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
- Coordinates with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality. Conducts design sessions with appropriate participation from architects and engineers
- Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services. Collaborates to creates configuration designs for design and implementation of various environments
- Creates work effort estimates for new features and bug fixes for use in prioritization and release management. Develops core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes
- Reviews new development tools, application frameworks and testing tools for functionality / effectiveness. Installs, administers, configures and maintains OSS applications including operating systems and related software
- Provides 'on call' support to resolve OSS application issues after normal business hours
- Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window)
- Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages. Documents systems configurations and upgrades
- Designs and implements change and control policies and disaster recovery plans; lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage
- Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage…
