- Evaluate children referred to the Early Intervention Program using standardized evaluation procedures to determine program eligibility
- Share expertise with families and the Early Intervention team on needs related to gross motor skills in the areas of muscle tone, strength, range of motion, endurance, coordination, balance, and functional motor tasks
- Provide coaching for family members, other caregivers, and colleagues to promote the child’s development and encourage the child’s participation in home and community activities and settings
- Accept coaching from colleagues when appropriate to provide comprehensive support to children and their families
- Collaborate with community agencies and professionals to provide timely and seamless services to children and their families
- Develop and maintain progress reports and documentation in compliance with agency and state regulations
- Ensure that families receive accurate information using understandable language in a timely manner
- Assist families in transition to other programs by providing information and guidance when appropriate
- Demonstrate practices consistent with the State of Wisconsin DHS 90, APTA and WPTA, based on state and federal legislation and best practice recommendations
- Participate in professional development opportunities and maintain professional licensure as required
- Attend all required staff meetings, team meetings and department meetings
- Participate in reflective supervision, accept feedback in a professional manner and take responsibility for job performance
- Comply with privacy laws and requirements under HIPAA regulations
- Report suspected abuse/neglect to Child Protective Services and EIP Director and document accordingly
Functions are considered light to moderate according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Work performed includes the ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling), and lift to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is performed in an office environment within a sedentary range setting and in the community where environments vary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree w/ years of experience, master's degree depending on year of graduation, or Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree.
- One-year supervised experience working with families of children with special needs and knowledge of Birth to Three (Part
C) regulations. Previous experience as PT preferred. - Licensure from the State of Wisconsin
- Demonstrated common sense, judgment, and communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
