Industrial Engineer
Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh Company, invites applications for the Industrial Engineer position. The role supports transformational manufacturing projects on an industry‑4.0 high‑flow line by extracting, processing, and analyzing data to produce labor estimates and proposals.
Responsibilities- Research and formulate plans for major projects, including manpower and cost estimates and work‑measuring tools such as milestones or critical‑path charts.
- Compare legacy and new product designs, review bills of material for accuracy, and identify differences in components and labor content.
- Estimate labor hours using reports from the Finance Team.
- Document assumptions, methodology, and labor estimates in a basis of estimate (BOE) document.
- Collaborate with design teams to complete BOM comparisons and review contractual requirements to ensure all costs are captured.
- Develop and write proposals for production processes.
- Author manufacturing plans for proposed production methods on future programs.
- Support cost‑estimate activities for new product lines and contract extensions, including make‑vs‑buy research.
- Identify process improvements in safety, quality, and productivity using lean and six‑sigma principles.
- Establish manpower requirements and line or sub‑assembly balancing data.
- Participate in product launch activities as needed.
- Present estimates to peers, management, and customers.
- Develop and mentor assigned industrial engineers and technicians.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in costing, estimating, industrial engineering, or a related area.
- Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing or the automobile industry.
- Experience in automotive assembly operations with Lean and/or Six‑Sigma tools.
- Prior experience with JD Edwards or an AS400 system.
- Experience with Catia, Pro Planner, and Connected Tools.
- Experience with Showcase or an AS400 data‑query extraction program and Propricer or a related proposal‑management software.
- Experience with learning‑curve programs (CURV1, BREAK, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Project‑management experience handling multiple priorities and large data sets.
- Physical demands: frequent sitting, hearing, visual tasks, typing, manual dexterity; occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, driving, bending, and kneeling.
$63,500.00 – $ (U.S. locations). Pay within this range is determined by scope, responsibilities, experience, and education.
