Schedule:
AVID Tutors are required to work the same schedule every week, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Tuesday through Friday. A typical schedule is somewhere between 5-16 hours of work per week.
Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:
Minimum: $17.50, Maximum: $24.00
Number of Positions: 20+
Qualifications- Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post‑secondary institution or a college graduate
- Excellent communication skills
- Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
- Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance
- Ability to commit to the entirety of the school year (or at a minimum one semester)
- Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school‑aged youth
- Previous AVID tutoring experience
- Experience with small group facilitation
- Proficiency or fluency in both English and Spanish languages
- Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff
- Experience working with students in a pre‑college or college readiness program
- AVID alumni are strongly encouraged to apply
Job Duties
- Support AVID scholars through facilitating small group tutorial sessions
- Model inquiry, academic language, higher level thinking, and problem solving skills
- Provide feedback on student work and group collaboration
- Collaborate with a team of tutors and elective teachers to support scholars’ agency
- Adhere to district/site policies and procedures
- Engage in ongoing professional development
