Schedule:

AVID Tutors are required to work the same schedule every week, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Tuesday through Friday. A typical schedule is somewhere between 5-16 hours of work per week.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:
Minimum: $17.50, Maximum: $24.00

Number of Positions: 20+

Qualifications
  • Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post‑secondary institution or a college graduate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
  • Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance
  • Ability to commit to the entirety of the  school year (or at a minimum one semester)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school‑aged youth
  • Previous AVID tutoring experience
  • Experience with small group facilitation
  • Proficiency or fluency in both English and Spanish languages
  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff
  • Experience working with students in a pre‑college or college readiness program
  • AVID alumni are strongly encouraged to apply
Position Summary /

Job Duties
  • Support AVID scholars through facilitating small group tutorial sessions
  • Model inquiry, academic language, higher level thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Provide feedback on student work and group collaboration
  • Collaborate with a team of tutors and elective teachers to support scholars’ agency
  • Adhere to district/site policies and procedures
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
