Job Description SummaryDual Credit Instructors facilitate student learning and continually develop instructional strategies that promote student success. They teach Fox Valley Technical College courses at their high school. Well‑prepared, highly motivated high school students who successfully complete the course earn college credits. This collaboration provides instructors at both institutions an opportunity to enrich their professional experience while helping students become career and college ready.

- Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Employ learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online course delivery.
- Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to course success and learning, and implement improvement strategies based on the evidence.
- Classroom Management – Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student and engagement evaluation.
- Team Participation – Support the college by engaging with the department and K12 Partnerships office, staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives. Comply with program area requirements related to course content, competencies, rigor, textbooks, and assessments. Proactively promote the College and our programs.
- Student Success & Support – Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful.
- Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices and teaching through professional development activities and current employment in the field. Maintain DPI licensure.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
Qualifications vary depending on the discipline. Prior to applying, please navigate to the Early College Credit Guide for additional requirements specific to each course. Minimum qualifications for consideration are noted, and all applicants go through a complete review process.
- Employed as a K‑12 teacher within the agreed upon school district.
- Associate degree or the degree/licensure level at which the dual credit instructor is teaching.
- General Studies courses:
- Master’s degree or higher, in the discipline or subfield. OR
- Master’s degree or higher in a different discipline plus 18 or more graduate credits in the discipline or subfield. OR
- Master’s degree or higher in a different discipline plus a DPI license in the discipline or subfield.
- Occupational courses:
- Degree or licensure at the level being taught (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Course‑based certification through the respective FVTC academic unit.
- All dual credit instructor approvals are limited to specific dual credit courses.
- Minimum of two (2) years full‑time (or 4,000 total hours if part‑time) of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught.
- One year (or 2,000 hours) shall be within five (5) years prior to the date of appointment.
- One year (or 2,000 hours) may be waived for occupational instructors with at least two (2) years of post‑secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within five (5) years prior to the date of appointment.
