Community
The Middle School Support paraprofessional will provide assistance to students and school personnel in
accordance with the goal of ensuring safe and healthy school environments for all. Furthermore, this position
will also collaborate with the school nurse on monitoring the needs of students within the school.
The Middle School Support Paraprofessional is to assist professional staff members in performing clerical tasks
and non-instructional duties. As assigned to assist the professional teacher in the instructional program by
implementing teacher-planned and teacher-supervised small group and/or individual activities. In addition,
assist the library media program or department with activities that are primarily non-instructional and clerical
in nature under the direction of the administrator.
The Middle School Support Paraprofessional is to assist in the overall supervision of the school and provide
active supervision of the playground, in school suspension and/or reflection room, lunchroom, hall, recess
activities, locker rooms, bus loading and/or student crossings, and other duties as assigned by principal.
Responsibilities, Tasks & Duties:
• Provide care for students, following district/ WISHES protocol for injury and illness care.
• Administer medication to students in accordance with District procedures.
• Utilize Infinite Campus to document all medication administration including stock medication and prescription
medication per medical professional orders.
• Supervise students in the health room.
• Performs tutorial functions; listens to oral readings by students; leads and monitors instructional
activities as directed and planned by the teacher
• Assists with the implementation and monitoring of computerized assessments such as i-Ready and
state-mandated testing systems.
• Honors confidentiality requirements of the Appleton Area School District
• Assists the professional staff with data collection and recording

• Assists with various clerical duties as assigned by professional staff
• Active supervision of playground, lunchroom, in-school suspension, regulation spaces, hall, recess
activities, locker rooms, bus loading and/or student crossings, and other duties as assigned by principal
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Performs such other related responsibilities as may be assigned
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or HSED/GED (at Non-school-wide Title I Schools)
• Completion of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Medication Administration Training including the
“knowledge” portion at least every four (4) years and the “skill training” at initiation of the assignment and
repeated annually
• Highly recommended training in de-escalation strategies (NCI) or be willing to obtain training through
District offerings
• Completion of Mandatory Blood-Borne Pathogens training
