Job Description SummaryAdjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the ongoing development of instructional strategies that promote student success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation - Foster student learning by developing instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support engagement. Use blended delivery approaches (hybrid, in-person, virtual, and online) to maximize student success.
- Assessment - Assess student learning and provide regular feedback. Use data to measure outcomes and implement improvement strategies based on evidence.
- Classroom Management - Maintain assigned schedule, attendance and grade records; ensure safe instructional environment and security of equipment; support student engagement evaluation.
- Team Participation - Engage with the department and stay current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
- Business & Community Engagement - Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; promote the College and our programs.
- Student Success & Support - Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students, close achievement gaps, and support overall success.
- Professional Development - Pursue ongoing knowledge in emerging trends and teaching practices; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure to sustain program accreditation.
- If applicable Curriculum Development - Develop competency-based, current instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy on required documentation.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree or the degree/licensure level at which the adjunct instructor is teaching (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 4,000 hours in the polysomnography field within the last five years.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
- Qualified per FVTC requirements at the time of and throughout employment as an instructor.
- Meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job-specific licensing standards.
- Current certification in Polysomnography required (CPSGT, RPSGT, or BRPT).
- Proficiency with learning management system preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and meet student needs.
- Effective and professional communication with diverse audiences.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in instructional quality through innovative methodologies and delivery methods.
- Background check will be conducted prior to hire. Results will be considered in determing suitability and competence.

Physical Requirements- Mobility to move around the instructional space.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and to sit for grading and administrative tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry teaching materials and equipment as needed.
- Clear speech and hearing; able to communicate effectively with students.
- Fine motor skills for writing on boards, demonstrating skills, and using instructional technology.
- Visual acuity to read materials, assess work, and operate equipment.
- Commitment to safety and ability to address hazards in the learning environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication with staff and students.
Hybrid environment with in-person, online, and virtual components. Workload may vary based on college needs.

Additional InformationHourly pay rate: $45.00. Pay is based on factors including experience, qualifications, education, certifications, internal equity, and market data.
Adjunct instructors are hired on a per-course basis. Courses are taught in traditional and alternative delivery formats. Will accept applications on an ongoing basis.
