Job Description Summary

Adjunct Instructors facilitate student learning and develop instructional strategies that promote student success in courses such as General A&P, Advanced A&P, Human Biology, and Basic Anatomy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Learning Facilitation – Develop instructional strategies that meet diverse student needs and support engagement across hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online delivery.
  • Assessment – Measure and report student learning, using data to design improvement strategies.
  • Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure a safe instructional environment, and evaluate student engagement.
  • Team Participation – Engage with division, department, and team members and stay current with institutional initiatives.
  • Business & Community Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners and promote the College.
  • Student Success & Support – Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students, close achievement gaps, and enhance success.
  • Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, teaching practices, and technology, while maintaining Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and necessary licenses.
Minimum Qualifications

For General Studies college credit courses, candidates must have one of the following:

  • A Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield.
  • A Master’s degree and 18 graduate credits in the discipline or subfield.
  • A Master’s degree and appropriate licensure in the discipline or subfield.
Education

Instructors with a Master of Education degree but not a discipline‑specific master’s may be considered if they hold graduate‑level courses and methods courses in the discipline.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • Proficiency with learning management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous improvement of instructional quality.
  • Background check required prior to hire.
  • Must meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying teaching materials as needed.
  • Clear speech and hearing for interaction.
  • Fine motor skills for activities such as whiteboard use or lab demonstrations.
  • Visual acuity to read course materials and operate equipment.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and ability to respond to emergencies.
  • Travel for off‑site teaching or professional development may be required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as typing.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
Work Environment
  • Classroom setting.
  • Work completed in person or hybrid/virtual modes.
  • Work may be performed fully online.

Additional Information

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay depends on experience, qualifications, education, and market data.

Adjunct instructors are hired on a per‑course basis, with total hours ranging from 3 to 8 per week, varying by day, evening, and weekend schedules.
