The Link works with youth and young families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice. Our 23 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Link prides itself on its innovative, youth-centered, strengths‑based programming for youth and families as well as programs that are co‑designed, implemented and overseen by youth.

The Youth Specialists are responsible for the late night safety, supervision, and security of the youth in the C.O.R.E. Hotel Shelter program. There are two hotel locations:
The Americ Inn in Inver Grove Heights and the Liv Inn in Burnsville. Along with safety and supervision this position is also responsible for responding to crisis and mediation between the clients and the hotel staff. This awake late night position is responsible for supporting youth and promoting a safe, supportive, and nurturing atmosphere. This position is part time, 16 hours per week.
Friday and Saturday 6pm-2am.
- High level supervision of youth to ensure safety and security for all youth, staff, and community. Regular safety rounds and room checks during the shift.
- Develop nurturing relationships and maintain healthy professional boundaries with clients and the hotel staff.
- Assist with case management and coordination of services when necessary.
- Provide clear and daily communication with Program Manager and other team members to ensure holistic, consistent supports and services are in place.
- Have the ability to drive to the other shelter location in case of client need.
- Have resources and supplies on your person to be able to provide to clients.
- Form relationships with clients and gather updated information that may impact their eligibility for various housing program.
- When a client is moving out of the hotel, communicate with them our services after they have become housed.
- Uphold the policies set up by The Link and the hotels.
- Manage the Hotel Tracking Sheet, as well as the Hotel Wait List.
- Ensure that when clients leave the hotel, they are formally checked out.
- Complete progress/case notes and maintain participant records.
- Provide crisis intervention and de‑escalation services as needed.
- Create and maintain a community and culture that is warm, welcoming and supportive of all youth.

- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems and community resources.
- Experience providing comprehensive and holistic supportive services to young people.
- Training in youth development, harm reduction, and/or trauma informed care.
- Desire to continuously learn for personal and professional growth.
- High level of personal and professional integrity, including ability to protect and maintain confidentiality and data privacy.
- Creative and able to engage a diverse range of needs and learning styles.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations.
