Position DescriptionThe Marketing Specialist supports Community Ed's and the Wayzata Early Learning School's communication and marketing to external and internal customers through the effective use of print, broadcast and electronic communication. The specialist develops and implements communications strategies, tactics, and materials to support all Community Ed and Early Learning School programs.
Responsibilities- Coordinates and implements the marketing plan for the Community Ed department and Wayzata Early Learning School, including centralized marketing of all programs and events.
- Coordinates the development, creation, and distribution of promotional materials such as brochures, catalogs, newsletters, presentations, and electronic communication.
- Coordinates production of print materials generated by the Early Learning School and Community Ed department.
- Supports the department through targeted marketing strategies and assists with implementing those strategies.
- Updates the Community Ed and Wayzata Early Learning School website and social media accounts as appropriate.
- Develops specific project communication plans, including production schedules and budget estimates.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and data analysis of customer feedback for program improvement.
- Maintains excellent relationships with students, administrators, teachers, other staff, parents, and community members to serve as a communications liaison for schools and programs.
- Writes and designs marketing materials for a variety of audiences, including staff newsletters, websites, news releases, and other print materials.
- Serves as the liaison to the rest of the District Communications team.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite and Canva).
- Familiarity with content management systems and website analytics tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members in a fast‑paced environment.
- Prior experience in communications, marketing, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of communications programming and best practices.
- Principles and techniques of preparing effective written and digital informational or educational materials.
- Strategic marketing/communications campaigns and marketing analytics.
- Operational planning, implementation, and evaluation principles and methods.
- Principles and techniques of digital graphics, web design, and content management.
