Position Overview- The veterinary assistant provides support to veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and performing clerical and administrative work. They deliver quality care and exceptional service.
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and owners and record vital signs
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication under LVT direction
- Calm anxiously animals
- Assist with medication administration or patient restraint
- Perform laboratory tests and radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, etc.)
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain controlled drug documentation
- Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, report abnormal conditions
- Communicate positively with clients
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medication plans
- Maintain cleanliness of hospital facilities and equipment using chemicals safely; complete laundry
- Care for overnight patients, ensuring they are clean and groomed before release
- Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence essential
- Promote hospital products and services
- Respond respectfully and urgently to instructions from DVM or LVT
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager; possible specialty area assignments (dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, etc.)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in the veterinary field
- Preferably with 2 or more years of experience
- Full-time, Day shift; varies Monday through Saturday, opening to close (6am-3pm, 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm, 9am-6pm, 10am-7pm)
- Must be able to work any shift

Pay Range: $16.50 — $18.50 USD
