Job Description:

  • The Phlebotomist II Float serves as a key patient-facing representative, responsible for collecting quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
  • This role requires direct patient interaction to create a professional, safe, and trusting environment.
  • Assignments may include work at physician offices, patient service centers, or other locations based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily work activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and compliant work environment.
  • Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient confirmation after venipuncture to ensure correct specimen labeling.
  • Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
  • Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call schedules, overtime, and multiple locations as needed.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise sound judgment.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver s license, if applicable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong customer focus with clear and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and understand business operations.
Experience:
  • One to three years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience.
Skills:
  • Venipuncture and specimen collection.
  • Patient interaction and communication.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and multitasking.
  • Documentation and data entry.
Qualification And Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in certain states.
