Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II Float serves as a key patient-facing representative, responsible for collecting quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
- This role requires direct patient interaction to create a professional, safe, and trusting environment.
- Assignments may include work at physician offices, patient service centers, or other locations based on business needs.
- Perform daily work activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and compliant work environment.
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient confirmation after venipuncture to ensure correct specimen labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call schedules, overtime, and multiple locations as needed.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise sound judgment.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver s license, if applicable.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus with clear and professional communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and understand business operations.
- One to three years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience.
- Venipuncture and specimen collection.
- Patient interaction and communication.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Time management and multitasking.
- Documentation and data entry.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in certain states.
