Position Overview
:
The Assistant Irrigation Technician role is a hands-on training opportunity designed for individuals looking to develop skills in Commercial Irrigation System maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. This position involves assisting experienced technicians with field production while actively learning how to diagnose issues, program controllers, and ensure the efficient operation of irrigation systems.
Field Support & Production
Manual Labor: Assist experienced technicians with digging, trenching, and general labor production as needed.
Logistics: Load and unload tools and materials; plan and coordinate necessary equipment for daily tasks.
Fleet Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment; perform daily start-up and shut-down procedures.
Driving: Safely drive company-owned vehicles (with or without trailers) to transport crew members and materials to job sites.
Technical Learning & Repair
Skill Development: Learn to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all aspects of commercial irrigation systems.
Controllers: Learn to program, diagnose, and repair irrigation control boxes.
Diagnostics: Learn to safely operate electrical diagnostic equipment, including valve locators, multi-meters, and fault finder tools.
Communication & Administration
Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, Account Managers, and Production Managers to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of scheduled work and materials used; use company technology platforms for communication.
Relations: Maintain high job quality and professional on-site relations with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Operational Skills
Heavy Equipment: Ability to safely operate machinery such as mini-track loaders, compact excavators, trenching machines, boring machines, and power washers.
Tools: Proficiency with pipe cutters and standard hand tools.
Licensing & Compliance
Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (approved to drive on Company Insurance).
Safety: Adhere to the company uniform policy, PPE requirements, and participate in safety meetings.

Teamwork: Willingness to learn and collaborate with a crew.
Pay Range: $17 - $22 per hour.
