The Lead Crisis Specialist’s main purpose is to be the primary clinical team member for crisis intervention within the community for all age groups and provide support with training of crisis staff. This position shall intervene to alleviate the participant’s immediate social, emotional, or environmental crisis and assess, evaluate, triage, and refer the participant for appropriate follow‑up treatment to support a return to an effective lifestyle.
This position may also provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed. This position has been identified as a safety‑sensitive position that includes tasks or duties (i.e., driving) that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety, health or reputation of the Agency, participants, the employee performing the task or others.
This position's schedule will be for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 5 PM to 3 AM.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and facilitate essential training for new Crisis department employees.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on required paperwork for other departmental staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate clinical training and act as a resource for other staff.
- Respond to any crisis call in person within AHCCCS required time frames.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of crisis services.
- Use community and Agency resources responsibly and knowledgeably.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.
- Must attend mandatory department staff meetings and required trainings.
- Keep clear, concise, and accurate records of clinical activity according to Agency policy procedures.
- Coordinate and/or follow‑up services of participants after initial contact.
- Provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed.
- Meet regularly with the Department Coordinator and other clinical staff for the purpose of clinical/case problem solving.
- Assist with on‑the‑job orientation and training of new staff members when needed.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with referral resources, including the court system and law enforcement agency.
- Engage in the comprehensive court process for participants, including preparation and transport of necessary documents and testimony in the court as required.
- Maintain good attendance, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of behavioral health experience OR bachelor’s degree in behavioral health related field. Experience equivalency is considered if combined education & experience meets qualifications as Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Possess valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record including but not limited to a serious traffic violation (ie. Reckless Driving; at fault accident; felony speeding) or greater than two (2) traffic violations in prior 39 months. Trained in crisis intervention and offered services to agency participants and residents in the community.
