Long Term Substitute - 5th Grade
March 18 - May 4, 2026
Position SummaryThe elementary school teacher is responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth of students. The teacher plans and implements lessons in a variety of subjects, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of each child.
Instructional Planning and Delivery- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources and alignment with State standards and Antioch CCSD 34's philosophy and objectives
- Employ a variety of instructional methods/techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students
- Actively engage in all data related meetings, including weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
- Utilize technology devices to execute instructional technology to enhance learning
- Use diverse instructional strategies and varied methods of assessment to provide differentiated instruction
- Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading
- Create a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior
- Actively engage in all data related meetings, including weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
- Participate on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building level goals/initiatives
- Actively pursue continual professional growth and commit to our vision of making our school a place of excellence
- Maintain accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, district policy, and administrative direction
- Work collaboratively with grade level team and school teams
- Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with colleagues, parents, and administration
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional growth
- Assume any other duties as may be delegated by immediate supervisor. The supervisor may adjust scope of responsibilities as in the best interest of the school district
- Substitute Certificate (SUB)
- STS not approved for this position
- Professional Educator License (PEL) a plus
- Salary per Substitute Handbook
Daily rate: $125
