Long Term Substitute - 5th Grade

March 18 - May 4, 2026

Position Summary

The elementary school teacher is responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth of students. The teacher plans and implements lessons in a variety of subjects, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of each child.

Instructional Planning and Delivery
  • Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources and alignment with State standards and Antioch CCSD 34's philosophy and objectives
  • Employ a variety of instructional methods/techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students
  • Actively engage in all data related meetings, including weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
  • Utilize technology devices to execute instructional technology to enhance learning
  • Use diverse instructional strategies and varied methods of assessment to provide differentiated instruction
  • Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading
The Classroom Environment
  • Create a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities
  • Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior
Professional Responsibilities
  • Actively engage in all data related meetings, including weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
  • Participate on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building level goals/initiatives
  • Actively pursue continual professional growth and commit to our vision of making our school a place of excellence
  • Maintain accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, district policy, and administrative direction
  • Work collaboratively with grade level team and school teams
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with colleagues, parents, and administration
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional growth
  • Assume any other duties as may be delegated by immediate supervisor. The supervisor may adjust scope of responsibilities as in the best interest of the school district
Qualifications
  • Substitute Certificate (SUB)
    • STS not approved for this position
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) a plus
  • Salary per Substitute Handbook

Daily rate: $125
