Job Title: Lead Locksmith Technician
Reports To: General Manager or Franchise Owner
Key Areas of ResponsibilityThe Lead Locksmith Technician is an integral part of Flylock Security Solution Oakland and is key to the company's growth. All Lead Locksmiths must be able to work well in a high‑paced environment, both independently and as part of a team. The role is hands‑on and technical, requiring a strong locksmithing mindset and the ability to learn new methods and techniques.
The responsibilities of a Fly Lock Security Solutions Lead Locksmith consist of the following:
- Perform emergency work orders for commercial clients only.
- Install, repair, and maintain commercial and residential hardware.
- Possess experience with safe and card access – a huge plus.
- Install, repair, and maintain access control hardware.
- Modify hardware for locks.
- Create and maintain master key systems.
- Perform residential and commercial lock re‑keying and pining of locks.
- Interpret a variety of instructions in written, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Troubleshoot a variety of situational variables.
- Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service equipment used.
- Read operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Write simple correspondence.
- Present information effectively to customers and commercial clients.
- Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
- Cut keys by code.
- Receive verbal instructions from management or clients/customers.
- Perform small projects as directed by management.
- Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical hands‑on field experience in locksmithing, access control, door hardware, and related skilled trades.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with a diverse population, including customers' partners, technicians, and company employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capable of working effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work safely on ladders.
- Compliance with company vehicle policy when driving.
- Provide a high level of timely and accurate customer service.
- Effectively determine client service needs through communication.
- Respond to general inquiries from customers/clients.
- Must fluently understand, speak, and write English.
- Push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
- Kneel, crouch, and stoop comfortably.
- Reach above and below shoulder height.
- Use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull.
- Climb a ladder and work above ground.
- Withstand external weather conditions year‑round.
