Position:
Bakery Department Manager – responsible for day‑to‑day management of operations and merchandising within the assigned department. The manager ensures that customers’ needs are met and exceeded through effective leadership, training, and performance management.
- Provide an outstanding customer service experience.
- Achieve department financial goals and implement best practices.
- Lead department staff and promote accountability.
- Develop staff through performance reviews and coaching.
- Implement visual merchandising and plan to showcase “fresh” products.
- Improve productivity and quality of the shopping experience.
- Oversee stock standards, inventory, and product rotation.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with food‑safety regulations.
- Prepare bakery products per banner guidelines and special orders.
- Train staff on procedures, safety, and food preparation.
- Order product using systems, pre‑orders, and seasonal plans.
- Analyze product performance for sales and profitability.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Contribute to overall store safety and sanitation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong customer service and suggestive selling ability.
- Strong organization, administration, and math abilities.
- Knowledge of department operations, bakery products, food safety, hazardous materials, baking techniques, visual merchandising, and equipment care.
- Understanding of union contractual language.
Education: One year of college or equivalent experience.
Experience: Two years in a bakery department or equivalent manager role in produce, meat, or center store.
Other: Availability for varied retail hours.
Physical: Standing and movement on a frequent basis; lifting up to 40 lbs.

Salary: $26.60 - $26.60 per hour.
