Position:
Bakery Department Manager – responsible for day‑to‑day management of operations and merchandising within the assigned department. The manager ensures that customers’ needs are met and exceeded through effective leadership, training, and performance management.

• Provide an outstanding customer service experience.
• Achieve department financial goals and implement best practices.
• Lead department staff and promote accountability.
• Develop staff through performance reviews and coaching.
• Implement visual merchandising and plan to showcase “fresh” products.
• Improve productivity and quality of the shopping experience.
• Oversee stock standards, inventory, and product rotation.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with food‑safety regulations.
• Prepare bakery products per banner guidelines and special orders.
• Train staff on procedures, safety, and food preparation.
• Order product using systems, pre‑orders, and seasonal plans.
• Analyze product performance for sales and profitability.
• Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Contribute to overall store safety and sanitation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Strong customer service and suggestive selling ability.
• Strong organization, administration, and math abilities.
• Knowledge of department operations, bakery products, food safety, hazardous materials, baking techniques, visual merchandising, and equipment care.
• Understanding of union contractual language.

Education: One year of college or equivalent experience.

Experience: Two years in a bakery department or equivalent manager role in produce, meat, or center store.

Other: Availability for varied retail hours.

Physical: Standing and movement on a frequent basis; lifting up to 40 lbs.

Salary: $26.60 - $26.60 per hour.
