The elementary school teacher is responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth of students. The teacher plans and implements lessons in a variety of subjects, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of each child.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional planning and delivery- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources, alignment with State standards and Antioch CCSD 34's philosophy and objectives
- Employ a variety of instructional methods, techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students
- Actively engage in weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
- Utilize technology devices to support instructional technology and enhance learning
- Use diverse instructional strategies and varied methods of assessment for differentiated instruction
- Possess strong knowledge of the Science of Reading
- Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning
- Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior
- Participate on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building‑level goals/initiatives
- Actively pursue continual professional growth and commit to the vision of making the school a place of excellence
- Maintain accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, District policy, and administrative direction
- Work collaboratively with grade‑level team and school teams
- Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with colleagues, parents, and administration
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth
- Perform any other duties delegated by the immediate Supervisor as needed; adjustments in scope of responsibilities may be made by the Supervisor in the best interest of the district
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education
- Certification and license as required by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Regional Office of Education
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques
- Knowledge of theories and practices of child development
