Food Service Worker
Reports toDirector of Food Services, Site Manager, Chef Supervisor
Position SummaryWorks as needed in various roles in an individual school cafeteria kitchen as assigned. Maintains accurate record keeping. Ensures Sanitary and Health standards are being followed. Interacts with customers, vendors, and school staff professionally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists the Cooks, Site Managers, Site Supervisor, with the preparation and service of hold and cold meals.
- Attends meetings and trainings when scheduled.
- Assists with receiving, proper storage, rotation of inventory.
- Takes and records temperature of food and notifies person in charge if corrective actions are needed.
- Washes and sanitizes pots, pans, and other items.
- Helps complete and maintain all records, including but not limited to production records, meal count sheets, other associated logs.
- Adheres to sanitary and health standards as defined in the district HACCP plan and by local health department officials.
- Ability to run a Point of Sale register during meal periods to accurately account for all meals served.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time working and assisting where needed.
- Ability to physically tolerate temperatures from
-10°F to 40°F for periods of up to one half hour. - Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- May be asked to travel between schools as necessary.
Education and/or
Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- In-service training as required
Ability to:
- Follow oral and written instructions and adhere to district and department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate flexibility in changes to assignments, tasks, procedures and regulations.
- Connecticut State approved certification in sanitation.
- Knowledge of Food Safety.
- Knowledge of Methods of food preparation.
- Knowledge of the operation and care of food service equipment.
Salary is $18.63 per hour 7 hours per day
