Overview
ELEMENTARY BUILDING SPECIAL EDUCATION LEADERS for Extended School Year (ESY) and Targeted Services Summer Programs. Multiple positions available.
Dates & Summer HoursJune 10 – Teacher set-up day. June 15 – June 18, Monday through Friday, 4.5 hours per day. June 22 – June 25, Monday through Friday, 4.5 hours per day.
Hours:
Lead Teacher 8:45 am – 1:15 pm;
Student contact 9:10 am – 12:10 pm. Additional hours during the week of June 8 for set-up and required training. Up to 60 additional hours upon approval for planning and/or coordinating either center based ESY or resource ESY & Targeted Services special education supports, with the majority of hours completed during the months leading up to the summer session. Assignments will be made based on student needs.
Elementary ESY Center based Sites:
Champlin Brooklyn Park Academy, Jefferson Elementary School, Ramsey Elementary School
Elementary Targeted Services & ESY Resource Sites:
Andover Elementary School, Sand Creek Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, Oxbow Creek Elementary School
- Plan and coordinate set-up of ESY specific site/program, including hiring of staff for ESY site/program during the months leading up to ESY session.
- Attend ESY Building Leader planning and coordination meetings before session in late spring and over the session.
- Provide direction, coordination, and supervision of staff during ESY session.
- Oversee implementation of ESY services provided by ESY licensed and classified staff.
- Manage day-to-day functions of the ESY program.
- Facilitate positive student behavior by working with students, staff, and families.
- Complete and submit required district paperwork, including end-of-ESY session procedures.
Sites hosting both Targeted Services and ESY resource programming have responsibilities for planning and coordinating set-up of special education supports for Targeted Services specific site/program, including hiring of special education para educator staff for site/program during the months leading up to Targeted Services session. Attend Special Education Building Leader planning and coordination meetings before session in late Spring and over the session.
Support students by ensuring Supplementary Aids (accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology) are in place for students; support and guide para educators who support students in classrooms; provide on-site consultation to teachers and para educators; support students who struggle with participating in the classroom.
- Requires ANY current MN Special Ed Teaching License.
- Must be physically working in the building.
- Position may be filled immediately after 7 posting days by an appropriately licensed candidate (PELSB Tier 3 or Tier 4 license).
- Anoka-Hennepin will make every effort to hire teachers with full standard licenses in the assigned subject and grade level.
All Summer School Teachers will receive the hourly rate in accordance with the working agreement as stated in Article X, Section
6. Teachers will be paid for teaching time plus prep time. There is no sick leave for summer school teachers.
